Keeping things current and on trend is definitely what every business person aspires toward. And as South Africans we are quite familiar with being 'extra' in most senses of the word.

One of the things we are most known for besides our diversity - and our car guards, are the people that stand at the traffic lights who try to appeal to our humanity and ask for money or help. They are generally referred to as 'beggars'.

It is not unfamiliar to many South Africans to be faced with a beggar at stop streets, intersections, and at traffic lights. One of the begging trends has become holding up a cardboard sign.

The sign generally explains what the person is searching for, and usually includes their plight and that they are open to work or that they have a family to feed and need help. However, we have all come across our fair share of beggars that are extra...

From dancing, mime artistry, to telling jokes, the entertainment element has definitely been something they have tried to implement into their begging. Almost turning it into a service, that they should be paid for.

So following that mindset, a tweet by the Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of South Africa, shared some truth and humour. He clearly stated that his view was his alone, but this still made us appreciate the uniqueness of our country people as well as the fact that everyone, regardless of stature, knows that what's happening between Russia and Ukraine is heart-shattering.

Nevertheless, it is fair to say that amidst everything, we can still praise the creative people that live on our streets. May they be rewarded for their unique content ideas...
