Never joke around on-air...

Working on live radio and television has its pros and cons.

One of the main cons is being caught off guard on-air and worse, saying or doing something that is not in line with the broadcasting mission and is heard or seen by the public.

Sadly, one anchor experienced that recently when she was joking around with her production team and didn't realise she was on live television.

"BBC News presenter Maryam Moshiri's accidental middle finger gesture during a live broadcast became a viral moment." (Instagram)

Moshiri turned to X/Twitter to apologise for her actions, which she explained was a playful joke between colleagues as they counted her down to 'live' television.

"The incident emphasizes the fine line between personal moments and public perception in the age of instant sharing and social media scrutiny." (Instagram)

Moshiri posted her sincere apologies to everyone in a public apology she posted to X. Maryam is back on-air presenting the news on BBC One and thanked all the people that sent her support.
