What in the world of shopping? Grocery shopping has become a triggering experience for many South Africans...

The cost of groceries has become anything but a pleasant or welcomed topic these days. Mostly because it is so costly.

We can therefore understand why people flock to the supermarket to take advantage of specials and promotions. It also comes as no surprise that everyone is waiting around trying to win their share in East Coast Radio's Every Caller Wins

The topic around how much an average shopping trip costs is even more sensitive, if not triggering, because unemployment has become a harsh reality for many South Africans.

It is the very reason that many South Africans were affected by an American woman's video recently.

In the video, the woman, who goes by Hannah Stella on Instagram, shared all the groceries she bought from a grocery store in South Africa.

The grocery store happened to be a Woolworths and as you know, not everyone can comfortably shop there. In the video, the blogger rants and raves about the number of items she was able to get for $170.

People started ranting at the post. Check out the comments below:

diannewhiting73: "Only tourists can shop like this in Woolworths, SA 😮 your average South African citizen (earning ZAR) can't afford it!"

shalenramasur: "South Africa is cheap when it comes to food! However your dollar has far more buying power in SA. Most people in South Africa would not be able to afford to buy all that! Most would not even shop in that shop"

steenkampgareth: "Can someone post a video like this with R170.00 in the USA please 😂😂😂"

tonyseifart: "Yeah, that’s the most expensive grocery chain in South Africa. $170 would feed some families for a month at a normal shop. Some people don’t even earn $170 a month."

wernerraath: "Buying from Checkers would've been a lot cheaper and there's a larger variety! Woolies is the fancier grocery store in SA"
