Watch: Fearless Joburg motorist escapes horrific hijacking
Updated | By Damon Beard
A motorist is lucky to be alive after narrowly escaping a situation which could have ended very badly.
If you’ve been hijacked before, you’ll know that the moment it happens, it all just becomes a complete blur.
Tons of people who've been through a hijacking before have told me that as a victim, you should just get out the car and let the hijackers take whatever they want. Never resist or chat back to them.

But when it happened to me, instinct kicked in, and I remember trying to put my foot onto the accelerator in the hope I’d at least lurch forward and crash into the car in front of me to attract some attention. But he’d taken the keys out the ignition, so I couldn’t move.
And as much as you’re supposed to just 'give in', as such, you’ll see from this video footage that there was no way that this person getting hijacked was going to do that.
According to Daily Sun, the botched hijacking took place in Robertsham, south of Johannesburg. The victim decided that he was having none of it, and literally rams his car directly into the hijacker's vehicle, causing them to flee into the distance.

The hijacker's car is dented badly. Smart move on the victim's part, as it makes it easier for the police to recognise the vehicle.
