PICS: Karachi politician gets 'down and dirty' for votes
Updated | By Damon Beard
Politicians around the world are always on the lookout for new tactics to win the hearts of voters. One politician from Pakistan took things to a new level and divided many with his unique campaigning method.
What’s the difference if it’s us asking for votes on a social media platform for a little cousin taking part in a beauty competition, or a politician asking for support in the upcoming elections? Nothing. Either way, when it comes to gaining support, most of us will do whatever it takes.
Some politicians will go above and beyond to gain support from citizens. But never in my life did I hear a story like this.
One election candidate’s rather bizarre political campaign didn’t just get people in his city talking, but people around the world, too, with many asking if what he did will get him the votes he’s needing?
According to Indian Express, his name is Ayaz Memom Motiwala, and he is a politician from Karachi, Pakistan. To show people that he gets their suffering of dealing with unhygienic conditions and faulty sewerage systems in the city, he decided to prove a point to the present government and opposition parties by lying down in sewage water to ask for votes.

Barefoot with the national flag of Pakistan, Motiwala looks like a little kid enjoying himself in the sewage water, gathering many looks from bystanders.
The reaction to his unique campaigning method is varied, with some people saying he made a fool of himself and others saying it was just a publicity stunt, but either way, he’s certainly got people talking.

I've never been one for politics, but I must admit that if he aimed to get people to notice him, he certainly succeeded.

Do you think this was a desperate attempt to get votes, or was it a smart way for people to believe his intentions and cast their vote for him?
