#TrendReport: A new, 'handy' password hint

When the iPhone X launched there was a lot of coverage of the face reading technology that was built in. Now it seems a competitor is doing the same thing, but with a slightly different body part in mind.

It seems Samsung recently filed a patent for technology that lets users scan their palms to reveal password hints if they need some help unlocking their device. And using your body as one layer of verification, instead of a regular password, may sidestep some of the issues being raised around Apple’s approach.

As Chris Reid, Trend Researcher at the International Trend Institute, explained recently, it’s a great solution when your mind is stretched to the limit remembering hundreds of different passwords. What body part is next, however, remains to be seen.
