Mother caught hitting child at Johannesburg restaurant

When watching this distressing footage, two things come to mind; firstly, if this is what this monster is doing at a crowded restaurant, can you imagine what is happening at home behind closed doors?! Secondly, she is so lucky (actually, we are both lucky) that I wasn't there because I know myself too well. I would have had to contain myself from wanting to get involved.

The woman apparently ordered a plate of pasta for the child and began to force-feed him. This began to frustrate her and she began to smack the child across the head in an attempt to make him eat. 

A man seated in the restaurant noticed her behaviour and approached her to calm her down. His attempts were futile as this enraged her to the point of her breaking plates and even making her overturn one of the dining tables. The woman apparently apologised to the owner of the restaurant and offered to pay for the damage she caused.

I find this footage and situation most distressing and hope that there will be intervention sooner rather than later, as later could be too late.
