Reaction Unit South Africa shared a story on their Facebook page regarding a woman who was conned by her two best friends in a scam worth R200,000. They led her to believe that she was chatting to a wealthy businessman who had romantic interest in her.

In a desperate plea to get help, the conned woman contacted the Reaction Unit South Africa to let them know about what had just happened to her. She informed the unit that she had been friends for 15 years with the two accused and that they owned a travel agency.

The woman began her story by letting the unit know that her friends had come to her with the news of a wealthy businessman who, according to them, was interested in her romantically after he had seen her pictures. She continued to let the unit know that she began chatting to the man via WhatsApp.

Things took a turn when she was invited for breakfast by the two friends who shared an email from the businessman. It was addressed to the complainant, advising her to invest her late husband's pension money into a travel agency.

The man then requested R200,000 and that she sign a document that will entitle her to shares within a few months. The woman then placed a notice on the funds, paid a penalty of R15,000, and transferred R200,000 to the travel agency.
