Getting 'lit' in the skies: Passenger lights up on an airplane

"Can someone help me understand what in the world is going on here?" asks Stacey Norman.
If you're a frequent flyer like me, you would know that if there's one thing that's guaranteed, it's that safety instruction video that plays before the start of a flight.
You almost memorise the words of the video and know what's going to come next. You would think that passengers would know that "it is a non-smoking flight" and that people who violate this rule will be prosecuted, but I think one passenger may have missed the announcement.

A passenger flying to Minnesota, USA was busted for lighting a cigarette on-board. Someone filmed the incident, and he was reportedly taken away. I mean, what else was going to happen?
New York Post reports that other passengers said he may have thrown back one too many. How much do you have to have to forget you cannot smoke on a plane?
