It really is a sad state of affairs seeing people who are there to help and protect the public taking advantage of their job status and using it for personal gain.

This video of a Free State paramedic being arrested for his offenses is rather disappointing and what's even worse is we constantly find ourselves having the same discussion - this forces us to ask when this will end and when will people find themselves accountable to their jobs?

I understand that financial times are hard but really, how can extorting money from others even be justifiable in one's mind?!

According to a translation by Times Live, you can hear the paramedic being asked by a real taxi driver: “Hey man‚ why are you loading these passengers? Is it your job or ours as taxis?”.

I mean, really, a paramedic using an ambulance as a taxi and allegedly drunk, what next?!

The paramedic has since been arrested and will be allowed to plead his case in front of a judge. 

Just last week a friend of mine who arrived from Germany was stopped by a policeman outside the airport and told that she could either pay him money or he would unpack each and every one of her bags. At the fear of missing her connecting flight with two kids in tow, she paid him R300! Disgusting!

When will this end? When will we see those in positions of power doing their job instead of trying to exploit the public? Let me know your thoughts in the comments section below:
