Do women prefer men who have 'dad bods'?

'Dad bod' is a male body type that is best described as 'softly round.' It's built upon the theory that once a man has found a mate and fathered a child, he doesn't need to worry about maintaining a sculpted physique.

We don't really give much attention to the male belly. It's usually the other way around but it would seem that it's no longer the case. 

Men's Fitness ran a poll with 100 women, asking them; " Do you like guys who have 'dad bods'?" They went in with the assumption that ladies would not find this attractive, but no, the results were pretty mixed. A few of the comments looked like this:

  • "I only go after guys with dad bods." 
  • "Sure, why not?" 
  • "Maybe, but it’s not something I look for." 
  • "Absolutely not." 

50% of women were indifferent, 15% exclusively date men with a "dad bod" while 38% of women surveyed wanted their guys to be in tip-top shape

Off the bat, it must be said that Mr T's 'dad bod is the best! For me personally, having a guy who enjoys life and the joy of cooking and eating with a glass of wine is how we love to live. 

There are so many more pressing features to consider in a man way before the width of his stomach. The way a man dresses, smells and conducts himself is so much more for me.

I have never ever dated a guy with a 6-pack and the nearest to that was the 6-pack he took to the braai we were attending. Different strokes for different folks, right?! I have never had a 6-pack either.

The only thing I'd struggled with is dating a guy with a smaller waist than me - other than that, I'm not phased.
