Severe weather incident hits Phoenix/Bhambie area

The latest weather update on the East Coast...

The South African Weather Service on Tuesday issued a Yellow Level 6 and 2 warning for disruptive rain in the extreme south-eastern parts of the province.

Since the statement has been issued, people from all over KZN have taken to social media to share their situations.

Various reports on social media allege that a severe weather incident took place in the Phoenix/Bhambie area.

Furthermore, "There has been extensive damage to the homes. We have got some people that have been injured. We have got KZN VIP paramedics attending to them, and now we have additional resources that are mobile to assist," says KZN VIP spokesperson Gareth Naidoo.

  • GET IN - If you are outside, get inside. If you're already inside, get as far into the middle of the building as possible.
  • GET DOWN - Get underground if possible. If you cannot, go to the lowest floor possible.
  • COVER UP - Flying and falling debris are a storm's number one killer. Use pillows, blankets, coats, helmets, etc to cover up and protect your head and body from flying debris.
