FlySafair has confirmed that the video displaying a disruptive passenger was on Flight FA600 from Johannesburg to Cape Town on Saturday, 10 May.

In a statement, the airline shared that the flight was diverted to Bloemfontein “due to the disruptive behaviour of a passenger on board.”

They described the actions of the passenger as “aggressive”, adding that the Captain made the decision to divert the aircraft for the safety and comfort of all passengers and crew.

Upon landing in Bloemfontein, the South African Police Services came aboard to remove the unruly passenger.

“The individual has been placed on FlySafair’s No-Fly List and, in accordance with the airline’s Terms and Conditions, will be issued an invoice covering the full costs of the diversion — including fuel and landing fees — which could total up to R100,000,” they said.

The airline further thanked all on board who assisted in de-escalating the incident.

ECR previously reported about the video circulating on social media depicting the unruly passenger's behaviour aboard the weekend domestic flight.

Footage of the incident was shared on TikTok by @kundaimurapa and has since garnered over 73,000 views on the short-form video-sharing app.

The clip starts off by showing two men in a sort of physical altercation. It soon becomes clear that one of the men is attempting to take the other to another seat on the plane before other passengers step in.

After struggling for some time, a passenger with cable ties steps in to assist with restraining the passenger. He then sits down, hands tied, as officers arrive. Click here to read the full article.
