According to News24, minibus taxi driver Arnold Brown rubbed his eyes in disbelief as he drove through the streets of Grassy Park and spotted a yawning hippo in front of him, exposing its massive teeth while walking the street and looking at the houses in the neighbourhood.
"I had to blink twice because I actually thought I was gesuip (drunk) when I saw the huge hippo walking and yawning," he told the publication on Saturday morning.

Fascinated by the scene, Brown felt tempted to step out of his minibus taxi to take some photos. However, law enforcement officers and two passengers advised him against approaching the animal.
Inspectors from the SPCA Wildlife Department, along with reserve staff and Quemic rangers, used their vehicles to guide the hippo back into the reserve. It was later discovered that the hippo had escaped through a fence at the reserve, which was temporarily secured until repairs could be made.
