Jane relives the moment she met Bastille in Cape Town

The British Rockers are in South Africa and will be making their way to Durban on Friday. Jane had the opportunity to have a chat with them face to face.

Watching Bastille live in Cape Town was one for the books, and what made the experience even more memorable was that the band are so wonderfully down to earth and awesome human beings.

Before they played on stage, I got to spend some time with Dan, Kyle, Chris, and Will as we casually chatted about life on the road, relationships, posters on their bedroom walls as kids, the first CD they ever bought, fame, and, of course, a little-unplugged version of their hit 'Things We Lost In The Fire', with me on tambourine. They were so giving of their time and it was so cool to see four friends living their best life.

Matthew Mole opened for the rockers and as always, he was just so damn good. Josh Klynsmith from Durban-band Gangs of Ballet supported him on the drums.

Speaking of drums, the last tune they did was 'Take Yours I'll Take Mine' and Matthew climbed into the sea of charged up fans and started smashing a big silver drum under a big spotlight - which was absolutely legendary.

Speaking of legendary,  we got to spend the night with Tresor (who will be opening for Bastille on Friday) and his lovely lady friend, which was a divine treat.

Bastille hit the stage running against a backdrop of bright visuals that made social commentary all the way through. They played a mix of their classics and more recent releases, with a sneaky 90s cover from TLC thrown in. They are a tight band and are kind and such good fun.

After the gig, we were headed to the hotel and were on the fence about going to the after party as it was 11:30pm - and the thought of a 6:00am wake up terrified me.

That all went out the door when we bumped into the band in the hotel bar and the next thing, I was on their tour bus - drinking a G&T!

We literally danced the night away while my tambourine circulated the dance floor like Lion King's Simba being held towards to the sky. Simon and I crawled onto the plane this morning with just three hours of sleep, but had such a happy heart and an experience that I will never, ever forget.
