Los Angeles authorities wrongfully arrest Wyclef Jean
Updated | By East Coast Drive
Rapper Wyclef Jean got to experience a case of mistaken identity first hand.
So the most amazing thing happened today; I saw this Wyclef Jean story on Twitter, and then he started following me. I couldn’t believe it.
Wyclef was pulled over and detained by Los Angeles authorities on Tuesday while they were searching for an armed robber and allegedly mistook the rapper for the suspect. He took to his Twitter to post a video of him standing next to a cop car with hands behind his back.
This is such a weird coincidence that he just got arrested because he looked similar to a suspect authorities were chasing down. He is a superstar so people should have seen and noticed him immediately but instead he was stereotyped. I am really upset that he got arrested and must have been a very traumatic experience for him and his family.

The local sheriff’s department went on to post an official statement that he had no involvement in the crime and it was a case of mistaken identity. I’m glad he was not involved because you know if he was, I would have included it in my ‘Afternoon tea with Z’ feature and given you the inside scoop.
