The touching story of a mute and deaf boy
Updated | By Darren, Keri and Sky
This story pulled at our heartstrings and we had to share it with you.
We have been asking you to nominate a child that needs to have their spirit lifted - and the nominations have been coming in thick and fast.
We have met a bubbly young girl who was nominated by her sister, a 12-year-old whose mother wanted to thank her for being supportive during her miscarriage, and more amazing children.
This week, we meet Jose Liam Veeram, who was nominated by his mother, Yvonne. The mother of the six-year-old boy, who is unable to hear or speak, wants nothing more than to put a smile on her son's face.
Yvonne revealed that her son used to be responsive to speech at a younger age, but all of that change over time.
"As a parent, I can tell you that he was responding well to baby talk. We would talk and he used to baby talk back at us, but just after that we noticed that we had to tap him in order for him to look at us when we talk to him," she said.
With 2020 being such a difficult year, Yvonne says that they were affected financially as well.
East Coast Radio’s Festive Big Favour with Toys R Us and Babies R Us played their part in making Yvonne's dream come true this festive season.
