A heartwarming moment has transpired this week and has been shared throughout the province. 

Amidst the chaos of a house fire in Mt. View, KZN, a five-year-old female tortoise named Miya found herself the unexpected centre of attention. 

Thanks to the speedy assistance of a Reaction Officer from Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA), Miya was rescued from the danger on Jacaranda Avenue. At 13:23, RUSA responded to reports of a blazing inferno.

Miya, the tortoise, was spotted by neighbours in the yard of the residence and what made the situation even more dire was the absence of the homeowners at the time of the fire.

Luckily, a heroic officer swiftly located Miya and ensured her safety.

Thank you to the vigilance and service of these officers who went above and beyond to assist this creature.
