LISTEN: Road closures won't stop Catherine Bosse from running the Comrades

With the 95th Comrades Marathon happening on Sunday, there are some roads that you should avoid.

The Comrades Marathon is back and sees more than 15,000 athletes competing after a two year absence. 

Darren, Keri, and Sky had the pleasure of meeting Catherine Bosse, who will compete in her second race.

The team had a wonderful conversation with the marathon athlete as they looked into the whole Comrades experience and also recapped the last edition of the race.

Desmond D'sa, who is a local environmental activist, had a warning for those coming to Durban about the beach issues.

"My concern is that I don't know how much of this has gone out to the marathon association to inform their runners and people that are coming not to go into the Durban beach front or swim", says Desmond.

Not only have 13 beaches been shut down this week due to high levels of E.coli, but also roads have been blocked off. 

The road closures have been doing the roads on social media.

Locals in and around Durban will see that the run is happening from Pietermaritzburg all the way to Durban. 

Delaine Cools, who is the marketing and communications specialist of the Comrades Marathon, is expecting a good turn out regardless. 

"We've got 70 participating nations in the Comrades Marathon this year 1 500 international runners, some of the biggest international contingents coming from the UK, India, Brazil, the USA, Germany," says Delaine.
