Comrades Marathon: Here are your road closures
Updated | By Sandile Bhengu
KwaZulu-Natal's biggest sporting event will be back on the road this weekend and organisers say the stage is set.
Sunday's 95th edition of the Comrades Marathon is a down run from Pietermaritzburg to Durban.
It's the first race after a two-year hiatus brought on by the Covid-19 outbreak.
The marathon's Delaine Cools says they are expecting a big turn out.
"We've got 70 participating nations in the Comrades Marathon this year 1 500 international runners, some of the biggest international contingents coming from the UK, India, Brazil, the USA, Germany - let alone all of the other participating African countries.
"We had 15 991 entries when the entries process opened and even then we were taking real precaution and reducing out entry numbers just to be able to host a race this year."
There'll be an influx of visitors to the province, as the runners bring their families and friends to cheer them on as they take on the world's biggest ultra-marathon.
But they won't get to enjoy swimming or surfing in some of Durban's beaches.

Thirteen of them were shut earlier this week due to high levels of E.Coli.
Local environmental activist Desmond D'sa says he hopes the city is doing enough to warn tourists.
"My concern is that I don't know how much of this has gone out to the marathon association to inform their runners and people that are coming not to go into the Durban beach front or swim."
