1. 

Residents of the mining town of Jagersfontein are being evacuated. The mine dam has burst, causing flooding in parts of the town.  Several houses in the nearby Charlesville residential area have already collapsed.

2. 

Springbok flyhalf Elton Jantjies, who is currently nursing an injury, has once again made headlines. However, this time around it's not for the good. According to Afrikaans news publication Rapport, Jantjies was reportedly seen entertaining the Springboks’ dietician Zeenat Simjee at two different guest houses in Mbombela.

3. 

Barcelona's La Liga match against Cadiz was temporarily halted after a fan suffered a cardiac arrest in the stands. Cadiz goalkeeper Jeremias Ledesma has been praised on social media after he ran across the pitch with a medical kit and threw it into the stands.

The Australians have remembered that the late Queen Elizabeth II wrote a letter to them during a state visit in November 1986, stored in the historic Queen Victoria Building. The letter has been sitting in the building for nearly 36 years, but can't be opened for another 63 years.

Michael Leopold, a biochemistry professor at the University of Richmond in the USA, was attacked by an owl - twice! The owl, dubbed “27doublehoo” by students at the university, has been causing terror for anyone in its path.
