Dube-Ncube wants to meet with AG following damning flood report
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
Premier Nomusa Dube-Ncube has requested an urgent meeting with the auditor-general after KwaZulu-Natal's response to the April and May floods came under fire.
Tsakani Maluleke reported back on her shocking findings last week into the real-time audit of how relief funds were being used in the province.
She said government was taking too long to assist affected communities, especially those who'd lost their homes.
She also inspected the temporary housing units being built for those displaced and found that some of them failed to meet a number of technical specifications.

Premier Nomusa Dube-Ncube says they have noted the AG's statement.
She says it's up to the province's leadership to take urgent action to pick up the delivery pace.
The premier's added that preventative controls need to be put in place to ensure that they accomplish their service delivery goals within an acceptable timeframe.
"Given the serious nature of the findings and the call for an urgent response, the Office of the Premier believes an engagement will be of great benefit and will enable provincial government and all sector institutions in the province to respond adequately and comprehensively to all the issues of concern raised by the auditor-general.
"The provincial government will however continue to study all the reports on this matter, including the final general and special reports in order to be able to provide our own considered response on all matters raised by the auditor-general's office," Dube-Ncube said.
