Nomusa Dube-Ncube was set to become the next premier of KwaZulu-Natal after the ANC's national leaders chose her as their preferred candidate for the position. She said 'will not disappoint the people of KZN'

2. 

Tributes have been paid from around the world to Olivia Newton-John, who has died from cancer aged 73. The British-born Australian singer and actress was best known for playing Sandy in Grease, one of the most successful film musicals ever made.

Former Springbok coach Peter de Villiers has made a return to rugby in South Africa and will coach the national deaf sevens team. De Villiers, who coached the Springboks between 2008 and 2011, will take the coaching reins with immediate effect.

The founder of a pimple-popping YouTube channel said she lost an income stream worth nearly six figures a month when the site said her content was "too graphic" to make money.

Australian airline Qantas has asked its senior executives to help out as airport baggage handlers as it struggles to manage a staff shortage. The airline has called on at least 100 senior staff to join its outsourced ground handling teams at Sydney and Melbourne airports for three months.
