1. 

According to the latest data from the Central Energy Fund, the price of 95 unleaded petrol is expected to fall by around R2.28 a litre in the first week of September. The price of 93 petrol could drop by around R2.12 a litre. Diesel could be reduced by more than a rand a litre.

2. 

After living in total isolation for the past 26 years in Brazil, the only remaining member of an uncontacted indigenous tribe has died. The man, whose name was not known, was nicknamed "Man of the Hole" because he dug deep holes. He was believed to be around 60 years old.

The Hollywoodbets Athletics Club has confirmed the passing of Mzamo Mthembu, from the Toti branch, who collapsed while taking part in the Comrades Marathon. Phakamile Ntshiza, 47, who ran for the Pretoria-based Adventist Athletic Club, also died suddenly while on the course to Durban. A total of 74 runners had been transported to hospital. Of those, two remain in ICU presently. One is still on a ventilator.

4. 

Boerewors in South Africa has now been clearly defined by a set of regulations relating to raw processed meat products. Boerewors sold in South Africa will also now need to have a minimum total meat content of 90% and a fat content of no more than 30%. The only ingredients allowed to form part of boerewors, in addition to the meat itself, are cereal or starch, vinegar, spices, herbs or salt, food additives, and water.

5. 

ANC leaders from KZN visited former president Jacob Zuma to seek guidance from him as a former party leader. Zuma is currently serving the remainder of his 15-month prison term at home after being released on medical parole in September last year.
