ECR's Top 5: DKS stories you may have missed this week

You might have missed some of the Breakfast team's impactful stories during the last week of October.

We've picked out the top five stories featured on the Breakfast Show this week.

1. Amashova duo Darren and Sky

The day turned out to be great fun as the East Coast Radio Amashova 38km event took place on Sunday morning.

There were different routes to choose from that would cater for beginners to advanced cyclists to encourage participation in this iconic event.

Our very own Darren Maule and Sky Tshabalala were in attendance for the event as they took part in the 38km family race. 

There was also a competition that had been running the whole week as well regarding the two Breakfast presenters.

2. The Shein scandal has DKS shook

An update from the time we spoke about the drama that is surrounding at Shein

There have been new developments as we got to speak with Michelle Naidoo, who is a social compliance official and fights for human rights in the clothing industry.

Here's her take regarding the Shein discussion:

Darren, Keri, and Sky saw this piece and wanted to do their own investigation on the matter. 

According to the reports from the ongoing investigation with Shein, employees at factories within China that supply clothes to Shein frequently work up to 18 hours a day with no weekends and just one day off per month.

3. WhatsApp was down, but only for a while...

WhatsApp was down this week but back online after a couple of hours. 

The application was down and to our surprise, people were absolutely loving it on Twitter

4. Crazy scenes as locals go on a looting spree

None of us need reminding of the trauma caused by the KZN looting and riots in 2021, but scenes like this open the wounds we all have worked hard to heal.

According to The South African, a video was shared on social media of people climbing on the top of a truck to get to the milk inside.

The truck had broken down and those nearby swooped in.

5. Employee sprays water to damage property at King Shaka Airport

If you find you have a problem with someone or something, it's always best to voice it out instead of acting it out. 

Well, clearly this employee working at the King Shaka Airport had enough of talking.

According to the South African, an incident occurred on Tuesday, 25 October, where an employee sprayed water from the fire engine truck at one of the buildings in an act of anger and frustration.

The employee can be seen on video going 'crazy' with the water:
