Despite rough seas last week, KZN anglers still found success – and the good news is, this long weekend looks perfect for fishing, with calm seas, clear skies, and plenty of edible fish biting.

In the latest episode of the ‘Angler News South Africa’ podcast, Vinesh Soogreem and the team share the latest updates from around the province.

While the South Coast struggled with muddy waters and limited catches, the Midlands offered excellent freshwater fishing, with trout, bass, and carp all putting in a solid appearance.

The North Coast saw action too, with anglers reeling in shad, kob, and some big couta offshore, including during a successful Umlalazi Ski Boat competition.

But the real hotspot? Durban. Local beaches delivered grunters, snoek, and even giant trevallies, while excitement builds for the Durban Ski Boat Festival, which is expected to attract over 230 boats, 650 anglers, and R1.5 million in prizes.

It’s shaping up to be an epic weekend for anglers across the board.
