Did you know that some renovations actually lower your house's value?!

It takes a lot of work to maintain a home.

People who own homes will always look to renovate/upgrade in order to maintain a certain value. Plus, it's nice to live in a home which you have had a hand in creating.

However, according to Business Tech, some renovations/upgrades actually bring the value of a house down! Who would have thought?

These include:

  • Building within an expensive neighbourhood
  • Either applying wallpaper or textured finishes on walls
  • Carpeting way too much
  • Bright and bold colours applied everywhere in the house
  • Removing closets
  • Built in high-end electronics 
  • Having a lot of Do It Yourself (DIY) projects around.

So it is important to remember that not every bright idea you have is a good one. It is advised that you look at trends before you start to knock down any walls or slap a bright colour on your garden wall.
