Darren Maule : Stop touching our children!
Updated | By Darren Maule
"Calling it 'evil' will not make it go away. I think it is way too easy to dismiss the actions of a priest who molests a child as just 'evil" - Darren Maule

There is no way to combat 'evil.' Evil is this word we use for things we don't understand. Evil is something intangible, abstract and ethereal. When you say it is 'evil' you say it is beyond our control.
That does not sit well with me.
No! This priest and many others was not possessed by some powerful demon or influenced by some imperceptible spirit. He consciously and willfully and purposefully fulfilled a desire to sexually assault a child - with little or no regard to the damage caused outside of his twisted pleasure.
Story: 5-year-old's drawings show her being abused by her priest
Saying "It is evil" is to chalk this thing up to a spiritual anomaly so we can abandon responsibility and continue our daily lives in the dark hope that it doesn't happen to us or our children.
No! This man must be severely punished yes, but the institutions and practices that make these places attractive to predators must be scrutinized and reformed. Is it inconceivable to say; no child should be alone in a room with a priest or a teacher or a policeman?
Can't we find a better/stricter psychometric test for those who seek professions that put them into positions that make us entrust our children to them?
We need to throw up as many impediments to these sick deviants as possible.
Calling something 'evil' is to relinquish your power to change it.
The problem is all too human and requires a very human solution.
