Copyright Amendment Bill set to cause havoc

The Copyright Amendment Bill has received backlash after a coalition of professionals are set to take on the Minister of Trade and Industry, Rob Davies.

East Coast Newswatch's Shaun Ryan and Collen Dlamini, conveyor for the Coalition for Effective Copyright in South Africa, gave us a special report of what the Copyright Amendment Bill means for the industry.

According to fin24 the coalition comprises of writers, book and music publishers, film directors, producers, musicians, performing artists, film and television workers, content creators and business people who are set to challenge the Minister of Trade and Industry.

The coalition comes after auditing firm PwC and Publishers Association of South Africa (PASA) assessed the Bill and found that it would result in several job losses, loss of revenue, and permitting free re-use of materials.
