Unusual pets: Dad shows loves for his pet cockroach

An unusual pet dad shows love for his pet cockroach

What might seem like a creepy cockroach to you could be a beloved pet to someone else.

While you might think cockroaches are a complete menace to our existence, they play a role in our ecosystem.

The pure disdain of these insects isn't just highlighted by the abundant supply of insecticides that kill roaches. There's also a zoo in the US that allows people to name cockroaches after their exes as part of a vengeful Valentine's Day act.

Cockroaches even made headlines recently when they were deemed an alleged 'superfood'. While researchers continue to study the safety of drinking cockroach milk as a superfood for humans, one man is making sure no one gets between him and his beloved roach pet.

In a video shared on social media, we see a woman doing the 'thoughtful' thing by flicking a cockroach off a man's head. Like her, we would associate flicking an insect off a person's head or body with a nice gesture.

But she was sorely mistaken. Her actions, which were driven by kindness, turned ugly in under two seconds. This is a classic example of why minding your business is a valid suggestion when walking around the streets.

People were amused by the man's intentions of keeping the cockroach as a pet. However, the video attracted several responses. Some were amusing, while others questioned the man's reaction.

  • "Pets for adoption. He can collect from our house in Bangalore."
  • "You should put it on a leash when in public."
  • "How does he distinguish it from the other cockroaches?" (Exactly, what we were thinking.)
  • "I'm sorry?!? What?!? A Pet?!?!"
  • "Sometimes minding your own business is good."
