Road rage or bullying is not something we need more of on our roads. We have plenty of things on our list, and road rage doesn't add any light to the list of things that go wrong on our South African roads

Online driver education platform Zutobi revealed that South African roads are ranked as the most deadly in the world, with 24.5 road traffic deaths per 100,000 people.

It is an unnecessary burden that many motorists have to deal with and forms part of the not-so-healthy approach to working on one's mental health.

The sad reality is that road rage usually results from people acting out and transferring their frustrations from life to other motorists on the road. Which, as we know, can turn fatal.

As we celebrate a special day for workers around South Africa and entertain yet another long weekend for many people, we expect to find some people who cannot exercise patience on the roads.

A short clip shared on social media captured the darker side of road behaviour, showing how some motorists resort to intimidation and bullying.

The video shows the tail end of an incident where a driver is seen returning to their car after interacting with someone from the vehicle behind them.

The incident reportedly took place on Victoria Embankment in Durban, which is a notoriously busy stretch in KwaZulu-Natal.

As the driver re-enters his vehicle, the van behind him deliberately nudges his car before driving off.

While not much information was shared as to what happened next and if this escalated further, we did see the one driver race after the van that hit him in a fit of rage.

One person commented that he was there and agreed that the black van driver was a bully.

"I also got angry and passed, the guy started doing this by the traffic light before Russell from M4. I passed the and watched through the rear mirror. It was unnecessary!"

"I was there. The guy with the black Amarok is a bully."

Be safe out there, and when you encounter a bully on the road, try to avoid engaging.
