Three things you can do this Family Wellness Month
Updated | By Udesha Moodley-Judhoo
As a family, how often can you say that you take time to check in on each other's overall well-being?

Danny Guselli is a firm believer in not taking anything for granted.
He does his best to practice this in his own life. When we asked him what he thought were the best tips for practising family wellness, he kept it real and went back to basics.
Far too often, we associate health and well-being with the things we eat or how we exercise, but wellness is so much more than that.
Wellness doesn't just mean physical well-being; it also includes mental, emotional, and social wellness.
1. Make time to check up on loved ones
Danny said making time to check in with family should go deeper than a message. It should be something that we take time to do. We often think sending a message is sufficient to check in, but not everyone is comfortable chatting on instant messaging platforms or social media.
Do you make time to call someone or have a coffee catch-up? These could be great ways to start.
In this day and age when everyone is so busy, I think a simple thing like checking in, but not just saying, Hey, how are you really saying? How are you? How are things? Are you okay? I think time is the most valuable thing now, and just not taking things for granted.- Danny Guselli
2. Family meetings
Family meetings have long been a space to discuss the things that matter. Whether that involves finding solutions to problems or planning get-togethers, these meetings are a great way to focus on social and emotional wellness.
When we show up for one another, it shows love and care. This is a great way to focus on positive mental health practices, where you can be there for your loved ones.
3. Let's get physical
That doesn't mean fist fighting, though some family members have been known to get physical during heated arguments, which is not good for anyone's wellbeing.
Working out and getting exercise can be great in groups. If you don't like exercising alone, then get the family involved. You can do weekly walks on the promenade or even do a dance class or yoga session together.
This is great for your physical wellness, which is closely connected to your mental well-being.
