Scotch tape on a punctured tyre? Not a good idea!

Scotch tape on a punctured tyre? Not a good idea!

Despite what the adverts might say, we doubt the Scotch brand expected people to use their tape on a punctured tyre.

Getting a flat tyre is never fun, especially when you're stuck without the right gear to fix it.

We've seen some questionable things on the road, but nothing quite as sketchy as a recent video doing the rounds.

Remember, the legal (and smart) way to drive is with a properly checked spare tyre and a full tyre-changing kit in your boot. It's basic road safety.

And in case it needs saying, Scotch tape is not a suitable fix for a punctured tyre.

A video shared on the Houston Texas TV Instagram page shows a group of people trying to fix a punctured tyre using Scotch tape.

It might not seem like the smartest move, and that's because it isn't. Still, people often act irrationally when they're unprepared.

So, no judgement here, just a friendly reminder: Scotch tape can do many things, but it cannot fix a puncture.

Have a look at the video from Instagram below.

The comments section was full of disbelief, with many questioning the future and the younger generation’s tendency to turn to Scotch tape for solutions.

  • "Wow, I thought I’d seen everything."

  • "We are doomed with this generation."

  • "They drive amongst us. Be afraid... be very afraid."

  • "Dude, my 16-year-old daughter knows how to service a car and change a tyre."

  • "Honestly, if I saw someone trying to do this in real life, I would help also, just for the laughs."
