The World's most expensive chips cost R2,800
Updated | By East Coast Radio
National French Fry Day was on the 13th of July and we didn't get to celebrate. Here's to the most expensive chippies...
Some of us like them salty, some like it with the works (chilli, cheese, sprinkle on that salt, pepper and chilli powder and sauce), some like them skinny and others like them thick, them 'slap tjips' style...Whichever way you like them, we are not sure if we would ever pay R2,800 for them.
We are talking about French Fries or as we call them, 'Chips' or Fresh Chips. On the 13th of July, was National French Fry Day and we didn't get to celebrate it. But we didn't forget. It wasn't the right time to focus our energy on the humble potato chip but we had to pay homage to it.

We thought what better way than to share this out of this world story about the most expensive chips in the world. According to The Guinness World Records, the most expensive French Fries were created by NYC restaurant called Serendipity3. They decided to turn the humble French fry into the “World's Most Expensive French Fries”. (MSN)
This creation was done by the "restaurant’s creative director and chef Joe Calderone and corporate executive chef Frederick Schoen-Kiewert, the “Creme de la Creme Pommes Frites” cost an outstanding $200 (R2 800)." (MSN)

We love chips, no denying that, this is definitely a go-to for many who are indulging when it comes to junk food, but to pay a whopping R2,800 for a plate of chips, mmm, we are not sure!
If you are wondering how in the world could this possibly be that expensive, just take a look at some of the ingredients. They were made with "upstate Chipperbeck potatoes, Dom Perignon Champagne and J. LeBlanc French Champagne Ardenne Vinegar, Guerande truffle salt, Urbani summer truffle oil and topped with shaved Crete Senesi Pecorino Tartufello." (Instagram)
