Unathi Nkayi puts MaXhosa rumours to rest

The 'Idols SA' judge took to Instagram to clear up confusion about her choice of clothing.

MaXhosa is a proudly South African knitwear brand that was founded in 2012 by Laduma Ngxokolo.

Since then, the brand has become one of SA's most well-known brands and exports, gaining recognition locally and internationally.

From Grammy Award-winning songstress Alicia Keys to acclaimed actor John Kani and his son, Atandwa, the brand has clothed many well-known celebs.

But these days between influencers and brand deals, you never quite know who is actually supporting brands by purchasing the clothes and who has been gifted a skirt or two.

Unathi Nkayi is also known for being a fan of MaXhosa and after her 'Idols SA' look on Sunday, she decided to clear the air about her partnership with the brand.

For this episode, she wore her signature MaXhosa skirt and paired it with a matching crop top (which looked gorgeous).

Many fans speculated that Unathi could be a new ambassador for the brand and that she probably receives these pieces for free.

In her Instagram post, she explains that she does love the brand and that means she's willing to pay for the clothing:

We love to see celebs truly and wholeheartedly supporting local brands!

Hopefully this will also encourage more famous faces to not just except freebies, but really support the brands they love.
