Point of view: You find coins on the side of the road...

The great myth around finding coins varies from person to person.

Some believe picking up a coin brings you luck, while others believe it brings bad fortune and wouldn't dare consider picking it up. Regardless of the belief, most people would agree that finding money in this economy is a stroke of good fortune.

Of course, you won't just help yourself without first checking if it belongs to anyone.

Drivers on a North Texas highway in the USA, might just get lucky if they spot a shiny dime on the road.

A truck travelling along the highway veered off the road and lost its load. The semi truck was carrying dimes (a coin currency from the US that equates to 10c) worth millions.

Besides the tedious clean-up efforts that followed, workers were motivated to get down on their hands and knees in an effort to pick up every last dime.

According to news reports, the eight million coins scattered across the highway equated to $800,000, an estimated R14 million.

Clean-up efforts saw workers using rakes, shovels, vacuums and even picking them up with their hands. It's safe to say they were not going to let a dime out of sight. After all, a dime on the ground is still a dime earned...
