Rings have a special sentiment around them. In fact, in most cases they take precedence over everything else around the wedding.

We think that this has everything to do with the fact that the act of asking for someone's hand in marriage is such a milestone moment. And the symbolism behind the ring holds such depth to the relationship and the bond between partners.

So to hear a woman share her story about her mother-in-law trying on her wedding ring before her, is just disrespectful and in bad taste.

In this case, a woman shared her story about her wedding ring and how it ended up on her mother-in-law's finger before it reached her. Her fiancé knew that she wanted something very specific, and made the effort of making her a custom ring.

"The woman explained her husband had sent the jewellery to his parent's house so that he could surprise his wife with the custom ring, but when the other woman – who is actually the man’s stepmother – saw the box, she assumed it was for her." (Mirror)

To her disappointment, what was meant to be a special and once-in-a-lifetime moment turned into her mother-in-law handing her the already opened ring box. It's just a tainted experience overall and we cannot imagine how she must've felt.

She feels like her marriage and her ring has been cursed because of this act of alleged malice from her step-mum-in-law. As sad as it is, we believe that we are in control of our experiences. What would've happened if she didn't know that the mother-in-law wore the ring in the first place?

Then perhaps her feelings would be completely different. You choose your circumstance and your thoughts, so stop dwelling in the bad and mark the moments in your life with love, goodness, and happiness.
