Danezja Kilpatrick, 23, has been accused of murdering her six-week-old twins, Dallis and Dakota Bentley, at their home in Queens, New York.
The bodies of twins Dallis and Dakota Bentley were found by police on Thursday, who were performing a routine wellness check on the mum, after being alerted by a relative.
According to The New York Post, a representative from the district attorney's office revealed that "Dallis was found in a bassinet with a knife protruding from his neck, while Dakota was found in a plastic garbage bag under the sink."

As per an article in Metro, "Prosecutors said Kilpatrick told police: 'The babies wouldn’t let me sleep. I just gave up and stopped caring. I didn’t care about the babies, that’s why I poisoned them.'"
"Kilpatrick’s mum reportedly told officers she did not know the identity of the twins’ father and she was not receiving any help caring for them."

Such a tragic case for this family, but if we have to face that awkward elephant in the room, we will admit that more care should be given to new mothers (and fathers - pending the circumstance).
Nothing could justify what she has done but the truth is that mental health is an important part of life with newborns and isn't always given the attention and seriousness it warrants.
