Always check your receipt before leaving the shop

Things can easily get mixed up during the festive shopping frenzy, so make sure to check your receipts.

Everyone is always searching for a good deal, so this time of the year always brings people out in their numbers.

That translates into busy shopping centres, malls, restaurants, roads, and other public places. If we are honest and open, which we try to always be, we have to admit that with more people comes more chances for things to go wrong.

Because let's face it, even though we are in the holiday mood, not everyone is patient and kind during this time of the year.

Therefore, we think it is vital that we make sure that we are doing all we can to make the shopping trip efficient and problem-free.

A mom shared a story with us earlier this year where she was charged a ridiculous amount for something that even the store manager couldn't find on their system.

Sona Tanda realised she was overcharged for something that she didn't take. She checked her receipt before leaving the store and found that she was charged for something that cost over R200!

What we learnt from this woman's video is that checking your receipt is an important part of shopping.

Sometimes items are loaded incorrectly and can turn out to be an innocent mistake, but sometimes scams do come around.

When you choose not to check your receipt, you might be losing out on money that could essentially be used for something else.

Always be aware of your surroundings and try and go shopping with someone. If possible, don't take the kids when shopping, because they can be a great distraction.
