There's something symbolic about setting intentions for yourself in the New Year.

The New Year comes with a renewed sense of energy and a clean slate to start on a fresh note.

But as we all have learnt over the past year, taking care of our mental and physical health is our prerogative and we cannot rely on anyone else to do that for us.

We have listed seven things that everyone should let go of before we go into 2024.

Now, not all seven of these things may apply to every one of us, but we are sure at least one of them may call out to you.

1. Stop caring so much about what other people may think of you. Live your life for you, be concerned about how you feel about you. How do you feel about your actions?

2. Stop speaking unkindly to yourself and doubting yourself. Speak words of love to yourself, try it and see how it makes you feel.

3. Let go of anything or anyone that makes you feel unhappy. If you feel a weird vibe or energy around certain people, regardless of whether they are family or not, move on.

4. Stop worrying about things out of your control. This is a big deal and is easier to say than do. But every time you catch yourself feeling worried, stop, and assess the problem, if there is nothing you can do to change the result, then let it be and hope for the best. If all else fails, you have learnt a lesson from it all.

5. Let go of comparing yourself to people on social media. Chances are that those people are scripting their 'content' and are using a filter.

6. Let go of people pleasing. If you are going through life saying yes to everyone else and no to yourself then you need to reset your priorities. If you say no to someone or give your opinion and they don't like it, then at the very least, at least you know that they weren't truly your friend in the first place.

7. Stop saying you don't have time to do the things you love. When you keep saying that, it becomes true and you will never realise the benefits of 'me time' till you take 'me time'.

We hope that these have helped you reset your focus and set some intentions for 2024...
