SA’s Du Plessis new UFC Middleweight champion

South Africa’s Dricus 'Stillknocks' du Plessis made history by winning the UFC Middleweight championship from Sean Strickland at UFC 297.

The two clashed at the Scotiabank Arena in Ontario, Canada, on Sunday morning.
Du Plessis won by a split decision, 48-47, with two in the South African's favour.
The South African went into his first five-round fight to challenge for his first UFC title.
He is unbeaten in the UFC since his series debut in October 2020, racking up six successive wins to become the top contender in the division.
