In a statement on the club’s Facebook, the clubs chairman Farook Kadodia was quoted as saying:

“I want to thank Clive for making himself available under very challenging circumstances. We had a meeting with the Coach and together felt that the task ahead is very difficult and therefore a strategic decision regarding the Club retaining its Premier Soccer League Status had to be made”

“Clive has left a career legacy, but we believe that our current position only dictates that we need to grind results to take ourselves out of the dreaded position we find ourselves in. In his short stay we admired the Coach in that he had a vision and saw the need to give a guy like Mphakamiseni Nene an opportunity which he has grabbed with both hands. I wish the Coach all the best for the future.”

The KZN outfit is rock bottom of the PSL with just five points after eleven games.

In a statement Barker explains why he resigned. see below.

“I think the club is on track to turn things around. A special thanks to Fadlu Davids, he is one of the finest Assistant Coaches I have worked with. Thanks to everybody for a pleasant stay. I wish the club well for the rest of the season.”

Regarding the appointment of a new Coach, the Chairman said he will begin discussions immediately to seek a replacement.
