Zuma hits out at nuclear critics
Updated | By Anelisa Kubheka
President Jacob Zuma says those who criticise nuclear power do not understand its benefits.

Zuma told Members of Parliament yesterday that the nuclear programme, which he says is going to happen, should help bring more money into the country.
He had been responding to a question from the ACDP's Cheryllyn Dudley.
The ACDP is not in favour of the build.
"We're particularly concerned with evidence that it will place future generations in dire straits having to deal with the environmental fallout. Mr President, can you tell us the thinking behind Cabinet decisions in this regard, which go against global trends," she asked.

Zuma, however, didn't touch on the environmental impact in his response, saying that critics are failing to see the bigger picture.
"We will in a sense build this within the area of the money that we have. We're not saying we're going to take all the money and put it there. It will bring a lot of money to the country, so this is a one-sided argument to say it will spend a lot of money," he said.
