Zolile Khumalo accused formally charged with murder
Updated | By Bernadette Wolhuter
The case against the man accused of killing MUT student, Zolile Khumalo earlier this year is going to trial.
Thabani Mzolo was indicted today in the Durban Magistrate's Court.
The 23-year-old is accused of shooting Khumalo, his alleged former girlfriend, in her room at the off-campus Lonsdale student residence in the city centre in May.
According to the indictment, the state's case is that Mzolo and Khumalo had been in a relationship that ended in March or April but he didn't accept it was over and decided to kill her.

The State says he entered her residence under the pretence of being there to visit another student.
He then got someone to check if she was in her room, the State argues, confronted her and reprimanded her for making a fool of him.
He then shot her with a firearm that he'd smuggled in.
The case will come before a judge in October, until then Mzolo has abandoned bail and remains in custody.
