Zolile Khumalo laid to rest today
Updated | By Lethiwe Mdluli
Family and friends of MUT student, Zolile Khumalo, will gather in northern KZN to pay their final respects today.

The 21-year-old will be laid to rest in her hometown of Eshowe. The first-year Mangosuthu University of Technology student was shot dead allegedly by her ex-boyfriend at an off-campus residence in the Durban CBD earlier this month.
Thabani Mzolo has appeared in court twice in connection with the crime. MUT SRC president, Sandile Dlamini says many students are expected to attend the funeral.
"We have arranged for a number of buses which will be transporting people from the university to Eshowe, where the funeral will be taking place. We have reserved about six buses so far," Dlamini said.
Mzolo will remain in custody until his next court appearance on the 17th of May.

Angry students have been demonstrating at the Durban Magistrate’s Court before and after his appearance demanding justice for Khumalo and an end to gender-based violence.
Meanwhile, the State is investigating whether there's a previous assault conviction against Mzolo.
