Family says MUT student Zolile was their 'last hope'
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
The family of murdered MUT student, Zolile Khumalo say they had high hopes for her.
Some of Khumalo's relatives were at the Durban Magistrate's Court yesterday where her alleged killer and ex-boyfriend, Thabani Mzolo made his second appearance.
The first year Quantity Surveying student was shot dead in her room at an off-campus residence in the city centre last Tuesday.
Khumalo's cousin, Mabongi Myeni says Khumalo was doing well at university. She says they're heartbroken.
Myeni says the family had been unaware of Khumalo's relationship with Mzolo.
"We didn't even know about the relationship. We found out by the time the incident happened that she had a boyfriend. To us, she was still very young," Myeni said.

Mzolo's case was postponed to next week Thursday after the court heard that the two addresses he provided still need to be verified.
