Zikalala: More compliance needed in freight, logistics industry
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
KwaZulu-Natal Premier Sihle Zikalala has acknowledged that law enforcement needs to be strengthened to address issues of compliance in the freight and logistics industry.

He was speaking after the arrests of five undocumented foreign truck drivers on Bayhead Road, leading to Durban Harbour.
Zikalala described the seizure of R1 billion worth of counterfeit goods, over the past 12 months at the port, as economic sabotage.
He blamed a lack of compliance within the industry as the root of many issues. “We are also calling on the minister to expedite the policy that will regulate the employment in South Africa, especially with regards to what are the scarce skills that we need.
“We don’t believe that South African companies, that are based here, should prioritise people from outside here.”
