Zikalala to meet with funeral parlours association over call for ban
Updated | By Lethiwe Mdluli
Economic Development MEC, Sihle Zikalala, is set to meet with members of the National Funeral Parlours Association of South Africa on Friday.

It follows the association's recent call for white and Indian-owned funeral parlours to be banned from operating in townships.
The association says non-black undertakers are depriving black-run parlours of economic opportunities in the predominantly black townships.

Economic Development spokesperson Bongani Tembe says the MEC wants to hear what the association's grievances are.
"There's been a call for white and Indian owned funeral companies to stay out of townships and villages. As a department, we felt that we have to meet with all stakeholders so that this matter can be addressed," he says.
