Zikalala: Malema-Zuma meeting was strategic move from EFF
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
ANC KZN Chairperson, Sihle Zikalala, believes the purpose of Julius Malema’s recent visit with Jacob Zuma in Nkandla was to inflame tensions within the ANC.
He was speaking during the opening session of a two-day provincial ANC Lekgotla in Durban.
Zikalala says the EFF has been unable to present itself as a convincing alternative to the ANC - and is eyeing those in the ruling party who’s unhappy. " They remain a great threat to the ANC and they focused on youth particularly, the unemployed and students. They are then focusing on disillusioned members of the ANC.
It comes as Zuma has again snubbed the Zondo Commission of Inquiry.
This entire week had been set aside for his testimony.

But he says he can’t appear until the Constitutional Court has dealt with his review of Justice Raymond Zondo’s decision not to recuse himself.
Zikalala says he hopes the provincial and national leadership structures will be able to discuss this matter with the former party president.
"We must ensure that we engage with the former president to understand the organisation and leaders must at all times embrace the laws of the country and equally ensure that they subject themselves to the laws and prescript of the country. Also, engaging with the former president we must ensure that his rights are not undermined or trampled."
