Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
KwaZulu-Natal Premier Sihle Zikalala has issued a call to men to address the root causes of gender-based violence and depression.
He also urged men to speak out against GBV and lead by example when it comes to reporting cases of violence against women and children.
Zikalala was addressing a Men's Month campaign launch at Durban City Hall on Tuesday.
He says in order to prevent or stop violence directed at women, the culture of violence rooted in our society needs to be dealt with.

"It must be our task. We should ensure that we teach all men to be part of building a stable, peaceful, prosperous society and ensure that we eliminate violence and femicide.
"But also ensure that we teach young boys how to live with their counterparts - the girls, but also to become real men."
